Downward

towards to the ground
falling leaves dictate the seasons’ tremble
as they land their worn leather exhausted

too many cycles of photosynthesis and growth
what it fed the centre was not enough,
it had to die, detach, descend and rot

end days for the great and mighty
the final residues of sunlight that sink back to the ground
combining parts into the soil we grow things in
