Two wings

After the hailstorm

a bird soars by
sleek and designed by balance
two wings act as rudder and throttle

Another, one wing broken enclosed by circles, trapped, falling
and one with a damaged wing barely managing to make it to a branch and safety

And then a hopeful little sparrow, two wings damaged
but not broken and the body of the bird wobbles into the air
uncertain but without fear, it can
find its feet again on higher ground

blessed by altitude it grows new feathers
and now it may soar above the clouds
